Blend of Traditional and Modern Astrology
The basis of my astrological practice is the Western Tropical Astrology.
The latter stretches primarly from Hellenistic Astrology to Modern Astrology, as well as Medieval and Renaissance Astrology.
I consider the various astrological branches and techniques as the different brushes and colors with which the Artist-Painter is going to paint his picture. Those are ways, not ends in themselves, not made to define oneself but to answer the queries of the people consulting.
Thereby, I don’t consider myself as a specialized astrologer in this or that practice or branch of Astrology. I am just an Astrologer.
I borrow from diverse currents techniques or conceptions that I make sure to not distort. For example : I include the trans-saturnian (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) but I don’t use the modern rulerships and I don’t attribute those planets a specific domicile.
I am also cautious when it comes to include a new color to my palette. Before completly incorporating a new tool to my practice I ensure to have tested it sufficiently beforehand.
As an example, I have an interest for certain aspects of Vedic Astrology, yet, not being literate or competent enough in it, I refrain from using it in my readings.
Furthermore, despite the inclusion of the modern approach which aims to be more psychological and individual, I don’t keep away negative interpretations. When a configuration is difficult I think it is better to say it in a simple manner rather than beating around the bush.
We live, for the most part, in a society where we prefer to lock ourselves in a forced and “benevolant” positivism instead of facing adversity. This bubble of permanent comfort only keeps people in mental and emotional numbness from which it is vital to get out.
I also integrate the predictive and divinatory aspects of Astrology which were unfortunately relegated to the background or even completely removed from the modern approach.
Technical Specificities
I mainly use the Campanus house system, and its 3D version (an article is coming soon to give a detailed explanation).
For Horary Astrology, I also use the Campanus system. I’ve used the Regiomontanus system in the past in observance of the tradition and because I could verify its effective functioning in that context. That being said, my practice led me to unify the domification.
I don’t or barely use the asteroids (apart from Chiron in some cases) even though I recognize their relevance.
Techniques such as transits, solar arc directions, secondary progressions, solar return, etc. serve me as well to locate and understand where the person stands at that time, as for their predictive aspect.
Symbolic Vision
I have an acausal and symbolic vision of Astrology.
I don’t consider the planets and their movements as the causes of the events unfolding here below.
I rather think that the celestial bodies, just as we do, are subjected to a Meaning emerging into Manifestation. They are the symbol of it, as well as everything around or inside us. Thus, if we had the ability for it, we could draw the same informations looking at the motions of dead leaves or birds or even our inner states for example, as those we obtain observing the planets.
You will find an article specifying that point of view, and another one linked to it discussing free will : here and there respectively.
Philosophy, Religion, Esoterism, Spirituality
It would be difficult to present exhaustively my cosmogony or my relationship to spirituality or my approach towards esoterism.
As there are articles and podcasts under preparation about those topics, I prefer not to lengthen this section to the point it would be indigestible.
Simply put, I will nontheless bring the following clarifications :
- I am not affiliated to any religious structure, even though I can be interested by certain aspects (esoteric or exoteric) of several religions.
- I feel an affinity with currents like Perennialism, Hermetism, Buddhism, Taoism and Gnosticism.
Respect for the Practice
I consider myself an ever learning student and as such I continue every day to devote time in order to deepen my Astrology understanding.
I consider also that any esoteric practice requires ascetism. Therefore, I have a strong body, soul and spirit discipline that support and frame my Astrology practice.
Intuitive Approach
Having a very strong 12th House emphasis in my birth chart, I can only accept the role played by intuition in the comprehension of events and in obtaining information.
Getting into the psyche of the querent makes potentially my whole daily life shift. Thus, I pay attention to signs that arise, possible dreams, etc. and I take those into account to analyse the chart.
Here is a significant example of that process that happened at the beginning of my Astrology practice :
I had been writing for about a week an astrological analysis for someone and was searching for the appropriate words to describe the relationship that person had with the father which was clearly the source of many issues. Not finding a satisfying expression of what I wanted to convey, I decided to clear my head watching a movie I knew nothing about. I was quite shocked when the very first lines of dialogue represented exactly the situation I was seeing in the chart. So, I took notes and inserted snippets of the dialogues to complement my reading and to encourage the person to watch the movie.
